As the Program Director for Medical Office Administration and Medical Assisting programs at Concorde Career Institute, Orlando, FL, I am dedicated to advancing the careers of those who desire to enter the healthcare industry as allied health professionals. I have been teaching for over 15 years, developing curriculum and performing as a subject matter expert for medical administration, coding, health information management (HIM) and medical assisting programs. I am a Senior Healthcare Coding Consultant, who is a triple certified medical coder. I have been a field auditor and have performed audit work for a variety of healthcare organizations, including hospitals, physician practices and insurance companies. Prior to being an educator and coding consulting, I was a board certified family practice physician. I am a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) through AHIMA, and a Certified Physician Coder (CPC) with over ten years in the field as a licensed Professional Medical Coding Curriculum (PMCC) instructor through the AAPC and have trained thousands of learners in medical coding, of which a majority earned their Certified Professional Coder certification, and/or specialty certifications. Professional memberships include the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and the American Medical Association (AMA). I am an AHIMA approved ICD-10-CM and PCS Certified Trainer, and a member of the Association of Health Care Auditors and Educators.
